As you will have read in an earlier news posting, Andrew Douglas-Smith took on a gruelling three day bicycle ride from his family home in Suffolk to Evesham, Worcestershire to raise much needed funds for Behçet's Syndrome (see posting dated 23 June 2008).
Here is a message from Andrew to all those who kindly supported him:
"I would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your generous support. The £1,300 target has been smashed, and currently £1,455 has been collected!
The ride was a success, I managed to complete the 312 miles in 2 1/2 days, arriving back home in time for lunch on 25th June, albeit slightly saddle-sore!
The money raised is going to the Behçet's Society UK to fund the Alpha-Interferon drugs trial and it will see one more person through the whole 6-month trial.
The local media also got involved, weekly newspapers, the East Anglian Daily Times and BBC Radio Suffolk both carried out interviews, raising awareness of this rare condition.
Thank you again for your support!
Andrew"
